training exceeds industry requirements in order to provide our clients
access to the most skilled and knowledgeable team possible. Our employees
hold such industry-recognized credentials as CHMM, REM and HAZWOPER
certifications. Specific requirements for these credentials are listed
below. |
Certified
Hazardous Materials Manager– (CHMM)
The CHMM Master Level is the premier credential of our organization
and industry. The requirements are stringent and include having
seven years of experience in the field of Hazardous Materials
Management/Engineering and the required level of college education,
experience and competency, including passing a rigorous national
examination. The exam analyzes and validates the CHMM's proficiency
in all aspects of our profession, including knowledge of Federal
laws, as well as business and field practices and ethics. |
Registered Environmental
Manager – (REM)
This credential represents the professionals engaged in management
of hazardous materials and related areas. Training includes:
operating philosophies and environmental ethics, environmental
management systems and tools, pollution prevention and ISO-14000
basics, air and water pollution control, hazardous waste management,
corrective and remedial actions, toxic substances control,
environmental and community safety, emergency preparedness
plans, audits, assessments and checklists. |
Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
All Strong management and sales staff, account managers and destruction
specialists initially receive HAZWOPER training, with eight
hour refresher courses taken annually.
These courses emphasize worksite health and safety standards,
the ability to identify potential site hazards, and the appropriate
steps to prevent illness or injury. Training includes: identifying
hazardous materials, medical surveillance, on-site safety considerations,
chemical protection clothing, respiratory protection, donning/doffing/decontamination
and site safety/health plan. |
49 CFR HAZMAT/DOT Training
All Strong management and sales staff, account managers and destruction specialists initially receive training in 49 CFR HAZMAT/DOT training.
DOT 49CFR172.704 mandates training and testing for any employee
responsible for handling or managing hazardous materials. Hazmat
employees include those who prepare the packages for shipping,
prepare, sign or review the paperwork, load trucks, drive the
vehicles or unload or receive the hazardous materials.
