StrongPak Presents at 2009 RILA Environmental Sustainability and Compliance Conference

StrongPak presented at the 2009 Retail Industry Leaders Association (RILA) Environmental Sustainability and Compliance Conference (ESCC), held October 5-7, 2009, in Dallas, Texas. Tom Carney, Strong’s Director of Special Waste Operations, Scott Danner, StrongPak National Sales Manager, and Teresa Pruitt, Senior Manager of the Hazardous Waste Department for Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., hosted a well-attended breakout session addressing RCRA Waste Minimization and Management. They outlined common misconceptions about RCRA waste management, and discussed in depth the ramifications of critical RCRA compliance issues at the retail level. Information on regulatory developments currently underway at the federal level to streamline RCRA retail waste management and reporting was also presented. An extended question and answer session followed.

Later that evening, StrongPak hosted an in-depth demonstration of the capabilities of Retail Waste Expert™ to a select group of retail industry decision makers. During the demonstration, these decision makers had the opportunity to view the complete visibility into waste data offered by RWE, from the broad scope current vital statistics and metrics available on the Dashboard, to the detailed results and proactive problem-solving tools available through the Alerts and Reports feature.

From the RILA newsroom: The second annual Environmental Sustainability and Compliance Conference held in Dallas, Texas, saw attendance top expectations for 2009, beating 2008 attendance. “This year’s attendance growth reflects both the retail industry’s commitment to sustainability and the educational and collaborative approach the conference offers to executives involved in establishing environmental programs and integrating green practices into their companies.” said Casey Chroust, executive vice president, retail operations.
ESCC 2009 closed with a look at the economics and business of sustainability. Emma Duncan, deputy editor of The Economist, delivered a remarkable closing keynote, rounding out ESCC 2009 with a comprehensive overview of the relationship between economic efficiency and sustainability.

RILA’s Environmental Sustainability and Compliance Conference is the only sustainability conference designed and presented by retailers, for retailers. The conference brings together business leaders from across the retail spectrum to hear from their peers, share best practices, and learn the latest operational strategies for environmental sustainability and compliance.
